Clouds Will Never Go Behind the Moon

Listen to podcast audio:

As a child, Fred Sanders recalls looking up at the clouds passing in front of the moon and wondering if any of them would ever go behind the moon. Through a series of questions about things Fred already knew about clouds and the moon, a relative helped him realize that he already knew that clouds couldn’t go behind the moon. The same can be true of us and our knowledge of God. Fred Sanders joins Gary Wilkerson to discuss the roles and relationships of Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the Trinity.

Key Points from the Podcast

  • Every attribute or perfection of God is equally and identically applicable to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • The relation of one person of the Trinity to another is what distinguishes them one from another.

  • The Holy Spirit is not a subsequent person of the Trinity that has to be received after salvation but is actively involved in the redemptive work of salvation in every believer’s life.

  • Sometimes the right questions can help us see that we may already know things about God that we didn’t realize we knew.

  • The Father made the world through the Son, so it makes sense that he would recreate the world through the Son as well.

  • Even without creation and the need for redemption the Father, Son and Holy Spirit exist in relationship in the Trinity.

  • Books and teachings on the Trinity can equip you to see the Father, Son and Holy Spirit throughout scripture in ways you hadn’t seen in the past.
