Playing Favorites With the Three Persons of the Trinity

Listen to podcast audio:

Trying to wrap our minds around the simultaneous oneness and distinctness of Father, Son and Spirit can be challenging. Some camps within Christianity will even highlight or focus on just one of the persons to the neglect of the other two. Chris Palmer joins Gary Wilkerson to discuss the importance of not playing favorites with the persons of the Trinity. Chris challenges listeners to really wrestle with scripture and come to a biblical understanding of the Trinity that will transform your worship and your prayer life.

Key Points from the Podcast

  • As you read from the Old Testament through the New Testament you start see how God reveals his triune nature in the work of redemption.

  • Studying the Trinity can seem anti-climactic, but when theology is preached by the power of the Holy Spirit lives will be transformed.

  • Even though the three persons of the Trinity are one, camps within Christianity seem to play favorites and erroneously focus on only one of them.

  • Understanding the Trinity can settle your anxieties, calm your deepest fears, and deliver you out of depression.

  • The Father, Son and Holy Spirit each play a different role in the redemptive work of salvation.

  • Each person of the Trinity is fully distinct yet fully God.

  • We must put in the work and the time to wrestle with scripture and allow truth to move from our head to our heart, to move from being informed to being enlightened.
