We Do Not Live on Bread Alone

Listen to podcast audio:

The Bible tells us that we were not created to live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. God’s design is to communicate with us through his word. If we want to get to know God and grow spiritually, then we need to develop a daily discipline of spending time with God in his word. That’s going to take time, effort and intentionality.

Key Points from the Podcast

  • Spiritual growth requires the daily discipline of reading and studying the word of God.

  • Times of solitude can be important, but we were created to live in community.

  • It is by God’s design that one of the ways he communicates with his children is through his written word by revelation of the Holy Spirit.

  • Through studying the Bible and applying the word of God to our life we get to know God more, become more like Christ, and have an eternal impact on our world.

  • The word of God gives you a lens through which to view the world, understand yourself and others, and deal with the inevitable difficulties of life.

  • Let the Bible be the authoritative voice in your life—not culture, social media, the news, etc.

  • If maintaining our physical health requires time, effort, and intentionality, then why would maintaining our spiritual health be any different?
