We all come to Christ through many different avenues, but at the core of each path is realizing that we need something only God can provide — salvation. Unfortunately, we can get stuck in this mindset of God existing to meet our needs. Fred Sanders joins Gary Wilkerson to discuss how God invites us to know him for who he is rather than only for what he does for us.

Key Points from the Podcast

  • The doctrine of the Trinity is essential to the doctrine of salvation.

  • God is the one, true God who exists eternally as three persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

  • As our faith matures, we should see a shift from being focused on ourselves to being focused on God.

  • A lot of the Bible is about God meeting the needs of the people, but that is only the beginning. God invites us to know him intimately.

  • Knowing not only what God has done for you but who he is will stir your heart to worship and exalt God.

  • God doesn’t need us. He is fully complete in and of himself. Yet in his love and grace he decided to create us and save us.
