Having the same mind as Christ means to adopt true humility, but what exactly does that look like? In this episode, Gary Wilkerson and Joshua West discuss what exactly it means to be a humble believer. They also explore why the virtue of humility is absolutely essential for the modern church to see a major move of God. The Father will not bless any church movement that glorifies itself or exalts believers over the Lord. It’s only when we truly focus on God’s glorification and submit ourselves to his ways that he will bring revival.

Key Points from the Podcast

• Because people have historically chased signs and wonders and misused God’s Word as a result, it can be easy to give up praying for God to move in our culture. We need a supernatural solution to the problems in our world and personal lives, though, and it must come from God. So we must pray for that.

• What elements become evident in a believer’s life as a result of God moving? They are radical love, peacefulness, generosity, forgiveness and humility.

• The image of God is imprinted on us, which means we do have the ability to do good, but sin stains every part of us which was made to reflect perfection. This means we constantly have to check our motives and repent, even when we’re doing good things.

• Control, manipulation and self-aggrandizement often seep into our prayers and work to bring the kingdom of God to earth, and we have to be hyper aware of when this begins to happen.

• If we don’t properly understand humility, we will not fully understand and produce all of the other virtues and fruit of the Spirit.

• Virtue-signaling is one way that many believers promote their own spiritual ‘maturity’ or justify certain behavior in church because good results are coming about from our service or discipline.

• The Bible tells us that God opposes the proud, which should deeply alarm us when we examine ourselves. When we pray for revival, we would do well to consider that God may be opposing the way that we would glorify ourselves through that revival. That should bring us swiftly to repentance and true humility.
