Those who believe that they must earn God’s love will always feel insecure in their faith. Thankfully, scripture makes it clear that salvation comes, not through our actions, but through the overwhelming goodness of Christ. John Bailey joins Gary Wilkerson to discuss how the Old and New Covenants help us understand God’s plan for humanity.
Key Points from the Podcast
-
The Old Covenant shows us our weakness and the New Covenant shows us God’s power.
-
In much of the church today, many pastors and leaders incorrectly mingle Old and New Covenant.
-
If you are living under a burden of God’s love for you being based on your performance, then you are still living under the Old Covenant.
-
All have sinned and fall short of God’s glory.
-
God dealt with sin once and for all at the cross when Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.
-
If your walk with God depends on how good you are, then it will always be faltering, but if it is based on how good Jesus is, then it will always be flourishing.
-
When people learn who they are in Christ and begin to understand the love, power, and glory of God it will change how they interact with God and others, serve the church, and impact their community.
-
Faith is trusting and believing that nothing is too difficult for God and that he will work in and through your life.
