Listen to podcast audio:
The Trinity can be difficult to discuss and understand but Fred Sanders joins Gary Wilkerson to help bring some clarity to the importance of the Trinity and the role that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit each play in salvation.
Key Points from the Podcast
-
The Trinity is essential to salvation. It is a redemptive work of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit all working as one.
-
The full Godhead—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—are unified and each uniquely involved in salvation. For example, the Father sent the Son, the Son was incarnate, and now the Holy Spirit indwells God’s children.
-
The one divine nature of the Godhead as eternally existed as the three persons of the Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
-
In the Incarnation of Christ, the second person of the Trinity, the Son of God, took on a human body, human nature and death in order to save us.
-
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit all share the same attributes, character and nature. For example, the Father is almighty, the Son is almighty, and the Spirit is almighty but there is one Almighty.
-
Our tendency can be to appropriate certain attributes to particular persons of the Trinity, but in doing so we must be guided by scripture. Suppose that one appropriates law, justice or strictness to the Father but when you examine the New Testament it appropriates love and election to the Father.
