World Challenge’s partners in Kenya are providing refuge for girls threatened with forced child marriage.

For many young girls in parts of Kenya, the questions of who and when they marry is not up to them. A legal battle against child marriage has been fought for decades in Kenya. Underage marriage was banned in 1990 and was more heavily criminalized by a law passed in 2014, but that has done little to stop the practice.

In early 2021, eight ministry leaders in Southern India began to learn about holistic ministry. They quickly realized that the approach we were showing them could have great benefits and impact in the poor communities around them.

One of the challenges our partners face in parts of Kyrgyzstan is the growth of Islam, especially among the younger generation. In some areas, teens and young adults are expected to recite parts of the Quran before they’re allowed into one popular fast-food restaurant.
