Addressing COVID-19 in India

World Challenge Staff

Even though lockdown measures may be lifting for countries in Europe and America, others are still grappling with the coronavirus.

Of course, the hot topic on most everyone's mind at this time is COVID-19. That is no different here in India. Most of the country was waiting anxiously to hear what decision the Prime Minister would make about the deadline for the "curfew" imposed earlier.

An Answer to 11 Years of Prayer

Rachel Chimits

God has moved powerfully to save persecuted believers in India after years of petition by the church.

Evangelist and preacher Billy Graham stated, “Prayer is one of our greatest privileges as God’s children, and even if God doesn’t seem to answer your prayers at first, don’t stop praying. God loves you, and no prayer goes unanswered.”

Becoming a Businesswoman in India

Rachel Chimits

God and Christian community helped bring one woman into a place of dignity as she learned how to run her own business.

Maanvi* had never had children. Perhaps it was a small blessing since her husband has a mental disability and she has spent her time caring for him and working to provide for them both over the many years of their marriage.

Stitching a New Story

Rachel Chimits

A young woman in India felt her life had effectively come to a close until she met people who were ready to show her Christ’s compassion.

Yahvat* married her husband six years ago. Her family was quite poor, but she was hopeful for her future with this marriage.

However, he neglected her. She hoped that things would improve with time, but instead the problems lingered, and no amount of prayers at the temples or incense or offerings seemed to improve her situation.

Celebrating Christmas in India

Rachel Chimits

Believers around the world are gathering together not only to remember the Savior’s birth and his promise of eternal redemption but also to care for the widow and orphan.

In preparation for Christmas, our partners in India hold skits where children in their orphanage, and any from the neighborhood who want to participate, have the chance to act out the Christmas story.

Escaping a Demonic Curse

God gave one woman and her family freedom from a curse that was consuming them with fear and conflict.

Lately, you’ve been having terrible headaches. You schedule a doctor’s appointment; she asks a lot of questions, examines your head and then suggests that they run a few more tests.

Rising Against the Dark Tide of Persecution

Rachel Chimits

As believers in India face growing hatred and harassment, God continues to provide for his most vulnerable children.

In 2014, elections in India brought the Bharatiya Janata Party (Indian People’s Party) into power.

They are often described as the “Hindu Nationalist Party.” If that title summoned up shades of another nationalist government and social group that the West knew all too well in the 1940s, the comparison wouldn’t be far off.
