God used a Bible study run by World Challenge’s partners in Liberia to reach the most unlikely of men: a preacher who did not know Christ. 

Sabarto was a preacher in his church and a staunch observer of all religious traditions. Despite this, he knew very little about the Bible and what it actually said about God.

Josephus graduated from his university in Liberia magna cum laude, a very high honor. This degree, no matter how prestigious, however, couldn’t seem to secure him a job. He was job hunting for nearly two years before he finally landed a low-paying position at a mission station in the city of Ganta.

As the pandemic lingers, the church in Africa is looking for ways to support the vulnerable in their communities and weather this social and economic storm.

Like many countries in Africa, Liberia did not begin to experience the coronavirus pandemic until later than Asia and the West. The first cases cropped up in the beginning of April, and for a while, it looked like the lockdown was effectively flattening their curve.
