Are We Making Disciples?
When Jesus walked the earth, he didn’t offer multiple paths to following him, each with varying levels of difficulty. He presented only one way—the narrow road. In a world where options abound, Jesus was unequivocal in his call to discipleship. He demanded radical commitment and unwavering devotion, leaving no room for bargaining or half-heartedness. In today’s landscape of Christianity, it’s crucial for pastors to echo this uncompromising call to discipleship.
Morality and Psychology in the Church
As Western culture becomes more and more self-focused, it has also become more and more interested in and influenced by psychology, and frankly probably more accurately stated “pop psychology.” And as the visible church has become increasingly influenced by culture this has birthed a sort of “therapeutic” gospel that seems to appeal to this hunger.
Conquering the Darkness
Only one thing conquers and dispels darkness, and that is light. Isaiah declared, “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light” (Isaiah 9:2, NKJV). Likewise, John stated, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it” (John 1:5).
