Coming Through the Storm as a Worshipper
“So the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians … Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the Lord, and spoke, saying, ‘I will sing to the Lord, for He has triumphed gloriously!’” (Exodus 14:30; 15:1).
God wants you to come out of your storm a worshipper! He had made a way for you in your dark night and he has a plan to bring you out as a shining example to the world of his faithfulness to his people.
Psalm 104:33
I will sing to the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praise to my God while I have being.
Spontaneous Worship
“Moses made haste and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped” (Exodus 34:8). The revelation of God’s nature overwhelmed Moses when he saw how merciful, long-suffering and patient our Father is with his children — even the stiff-necked ones who grieve him.
It’s important to note that this is the first mention of Moses ever worshiping. Prior to this revelation of God’s glory, Moses tearfully prayed and interceded for Israel and even talked with God face to face. But this is the first time we read the words, “[Moses] worshiped.”
Praise is the Final Word
Gary Wilkerson preaches on the power of praise in overcoming life's difficulties and trials, emphasizing that praise should be our response in all circumstances.
Psalm 98:1
Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.
Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased.
Psalm 89:5
Let the heavens praise your wonders, O Lord, your faithfulness in the assembly of the holy ones!
The Stuff We Don't Know About
We forget that God is working things out we don't see—that there are situations he protects us from we won't know about this side of heaven. These parenthesis moments, as Tim Dilena calls them, are trials and hurt God saves us from that we don't know anything about. In this powerful sermon, we are reminded that God keeps us from so much we don't see and that we should both trust him with and praise him for those saves.
