The news is peppered with articles about government attacks on protestors and church leaders in Nicaragua. Reading all this, many might feel overwhelmed by the forces of evil, unrest and poverty in this small Central American country.

Recently, a member of the European Parliament pointed out, “There is not a single European country where Roma people have equal rights to non-Roma people. They are treated as a problem...”

The recent Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has taken over 60 lives. One of those lives was a congregant of our local church partner. We plan to aid in stopping this crisis by extending much-needed training and preventative measures to 60 local churches at the epicenter of the crisis.

Last week, a catastrophe occurred in Southern Laos displacing more than 6000 people in hours. A newly constructed dam collapsed under immense pressure from heavy monsoon rains. Nearly 5 billion cubic meters of water were released. This torrent of water and mud has swallowed entire villages, demolished roads, and drenched food sources – devastating lives. Today, thousands are still stranded, hundreds are missing and more than 30 confirmed dead. Sadly, it seems this could have been averted.

Miracles Take Place in Africa

The jungles of war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo teem with warring rebel groups. Some are former perpetrators of the Rwandan genocide. Some are Islamic militants who fled Uganda. Altogether, more than 70 armed groups operate in the region, making prospects for peace grim.
